John Ruddo got his start in golf retail in 1991, as a budding PGA professional with experience in teaching golf, organizing tournaments, and retail management. At the time, interest in golf was booming in Ocean City, MD, which has since gone from just a handful of golf courses to more than a dozen. When Ruddo started, there wasn’t a fully stocked, well-maintained golf shop. With his strong background and interest in retail, the area’s growing demand, and his accomplished record as a player and instructor, he decided to establish an off-course shop.

Ruddo’s Golf has had multiple locations in Ocean City and West Ocean City, Maryland, as well as Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The Ruddo’s team are also the golf retailers at four golf courses and they independently handle merchandising at two local shops. Ruddo won the Mid-Atlantic PGA Merchandiser of the Year in the Resort category in 1999.
